What Is an Intensive Outpatient Program?

Content Section

An Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is a structured mental health treatment program that typically involves 3–5 days per week of care, several hours per day.

IOP is appropriate for individuals who:

  • Need more support than traditional outpatient therapy
  • Are stepping down from inpatient or PHP care
